Carnegie Mellon Scholar Named to Board of a Major Foundation

Frazer, Distinguished Public Service Professor and director of the Center for International Policy and Innovation at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, was elected to the board of directors of the MasterCard Foundation. The foundation has more than $9 billion in assets and operates in 46 countries worldwide, with major international efforts on the African continent.

Professor Frazer joined the faculty at Carnegie Mellon University in 2009. From 2005 to 2009, she was the assistant secretary for African affairs at the U.S. State Department. Earlier she served in the Bush White House as special assistant to the president and senior director for African affairs at the National Security Council. In June 2004, she was named U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa.

Professor Frazer holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and African and Afro-American studies, a master’s degree in international policy studies, and a Ph.D. in political science, all from Stanford University.
