The New President of the Association for Black Culture Centers

cohen-2Rodney T. Cohen was elected president of the Association for Black Culture Centers at the organization’s annual conference, held this year at Auburn University in Alabama. The association is headquartered at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and has more than 700 colleges and universities that are members or affiliates in all 50 states as well as in the Caribbean and West Africa.

Dr. Cohen is an assistant dean and director of the Afro-American Cultural Center at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He joined the staff at Yale in 2010 after serving as director of the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and the Office of Student Activities at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. Earlier in his career, Dr. Cohen held positions at the University of Notre Dame, the University of Texas, North Carolina A&T State University, and Fisk University.

Dr. Cohen is a graduate of what is now Clark Atlanta University, where he majored in biology. He holds a master’s degree from Western Kentucky University and a doctorate in higher education administration from Vanderbilt University.
