Business School at South Carolina State University to Stand Alone

PresidentThomasElzeyThomas Elzey, president of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, has made the decision to reestablish the university’s business school as a separate entity. The school had been merged with the School of Applied Professional Sciences. Thus, business programs were under the same management as disciplines such as military science, nursing, and health sciences.

President Elzey told the Orangeburg Times and Democrat, “We’re trying to get the focus back on the School of Business and what it can offer students as well as the community. My plan is that the School of Business will increase its influence in the near future significantly – that there will be greater involvement and presence in local and regional communities around economic development.”
