Xavier University Looks to Strengthen Its International Ties

xavierlaXavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans has initiated a new effort to increase the “internationalization” of campus. Among the elements of its five-year internationalization strategic plan is to increase the number of foreign students who enroll at the university.

The university also plans to increase the international aspects of the curriculum in all disciplines; expand campus and community intercultural outreach activities; increase the number of students who study abroad for a semester or summer; and increase faculty international research and program development activities.

Among the international programs are a new Confucius Institute that promotes Chinese language and culture, participation in the HBCU-Brazil Alliance which brings pharmacy students from Brazil to the Xavier campus, and the GlobeMed partnership, where public health and medical students enroll in service projects to gain experience and participate in learning endeavors overseas.
