Two Black Scholars Among the Three Finalists for Vice Provost for Diversity at Ohio University

ohio-uOhio University has announced three finalists for the position of vice provost for diversity and inclusion. The candidates will all visit campus soon to participate in interviews and open forums with members of the university community. Two of the three finalists are Black.

DrShariClarke-SShari J. Clarke is vice president for multicultural affairs at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.

Dr. Clarke is a graduate of Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, where she majored in sociology. She holds a master’s degree in college student personnel from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and a doctorate in educational leadership and higher education from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

bello-ogunuJohn Bello-Ogunu is the associate vice president and chief diversity officer at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. He is the former associate dean of students and an associate professor of communication at Wichita State University in Kansas.

Dr. Bello-Ogunu is a graduate of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. He holds a master’s degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a Ph.D. in speech communication from Ohio University.
