Three African Americans in New Administrative Posts at HBCUs

Cherita WeatherspoonCherita Weatherspoon is the new executive director of University College at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. University College is an umbrella of student services that includes academic advising, counseling, and peer mentoring. Dr. Weatherspoon is the author of Community College Leadership Defined: Identifying, Developing and Assessing the Competencies Necessary for Leadership Success in the 21st Century (Lambert Academic Publishing, 2010).

Dr. Weatherspoon holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Delaware State University.

SunyaLYoungSunya L. Young was appointed vice president for institutional advancement at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg. She also serves as director of the South Carolina State University Foundation. She was the director of development for the South Carolina Higher Education Foundation. Earlier in her career, she was director of development and planned giving at Claflin College.

Young is a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia and holds a master’s degree in management from Webster University.

Robert McGlotten 2Robert W. McGlotten Jr. was named government and public affairs liaison at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne. He is the former assistant secretary for the department of business and economic development for the state of Maryland.

McGlotten is a graduate of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and holds a master’s degree from the School of Social Work and Community Planning at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Quenon Endowed Chair, and vice provost for graduate education at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
