The Catholic University Where 75 Percent of the Deans Are Black

our-lady-of-the-lake-university-san-antonioOur Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas, enrolls about 1,500 undergraduate students. Only 8 percent of the undergraduate student body are African Americans. But three of the four deans at the university are Black.

Marcheta Evans is the new dean of the School of Professional Studies and the Worden School of Social Service. She was the associate dean of the College of Education and Human Development at the downtown campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Dwayne Banks was named dean of the School of Business and Leadership. He was the founder and CEO of Health and Social Sector Analysis, an Austin-based business the specializes in health care economics.

Michael Laney is dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. He joined the university staff in 2012 after developing a doctoral program in communication at Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya.
