Two Black Scholars Taking on New Faculty Roles

bazemore-walkerCatherine R. Bazemore-Walker was appointed associate professor of chemistry and director of science initiatives at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina. She was an assistant professor of chemistry at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and previously served on the faculty at the University of Virginia and Norfolk State University in Virginia.

Dr. Bazemore-Walker is a graduate of Norfolk State University and holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Virginia.

Moore III, JamesJames L. Moore III was named Distinguished Professor of Urban Education in the College of Education and Human Ecology at Ohio State University. His research focuses on improving educational outcomes for African American males. He is the director of the Tood Anthony Bell National Resource Center on the African American Male. He also serves as associate provost for diversity and inclusion.

Dr. Moore III is a graduate of Delaware State University and earned both a master’s degree and a doctorate in counselor education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

In Memoriam: Roscoe Hightower Jr., 1966-2024

Dr. Hightower was a professor of marketing at his alma mater, historically Black Florida A&M University, where he taught for over two decades. He also served the university as the Centennial Eminent Scholar Chair and Professor of Marketing and Facility Management.
