Three African Americans in New Administrative Posts in Higher Education

Keeley Powell - Office of Graduate & Professional EducationKeeley M. Powell was appointed assistant director of recruitment and diversity in the Office of Graduate and Professional Education at the University of Delaware. She was the assistant director of academic transition programs at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey.

Dr. Powell holds a bachelor’s degree and an educational doctorate from the University of Delaware. She also earned a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Maryland at College Park.

clifford-russellClifford Russell was named chief information officer at Morehouse College in Atlanta. He has been serving as president and CEO of Bridge Dataworks and previously was a systems analyst at the University of Maryland.

John Silvanus Wilson Jr., president of Morehouse, said “Clifford will implement an innovative technology strategy to ensure that teaching and learning at Morehouse remain robust and relevant.”

Aaron JamesAaron James was named director of athletics at Grambling State University in Louisiana. He has been serving in the position on an interim basis and previously was associate athletic director for marketing and promotions.

James is a member of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and the Grambling Legends Sports Hall of Fame.
