The New President of the American Counseling Association

West-OlatunjiCirecie West-Olatunji, associate professor and director of the Center for Traumatic Stress Research at the University of Cincinnati, has been elected president of the American Counseling Association. She is a past president of the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, a division of the American Counseling Association. The American Counseling Association has more than 43,000 members.

Dr. West-Olatunji specializes in multicultural counseling and has developed new counseling programs for practitioners who deal with victims of natural disasters. She joined the faculty at the University of Cincinnati in 2013 after teaching for nine years at the University of Florida and four years at Xavier University of Louisiana.

Dr. West-Olatunji is a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. After conducting graduate work at Teacher College of Columbia University in multicultural counseling psychology, Professor West-Olatunji earned a doctorate in counselor education from the University of New Orleans.
