Five African Americans in New Administrative Posts

Brenda-MaloneBrenda Malone was named interim director of the Equal Opportunity/ADA Office at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Since 2007, she has served as vice chancellor for human resources at the university. Previously, she was vice chancellor for faculty and staff relations at the City University of New York.

Malone is a graduate of Swarthmore College and the Hofstra University School of Law.

fleming-lorraineLorraine Fleming was named interim dean of the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Computer Sciences at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Fleming joined the Howard faculty in 1985 and is a professor and former chair of the department of civil engineering.

Dr. Fleming is a graduate of Howard University. She earned a master’s degree at George Washington University and a Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.

LibrarianRoseboroClevell S. Roseboro was appointed director of libraries at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. He was dean of library services and university archives at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Roseboro is a graduate of Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina. He holds a master of library science degree from North Carolina Central University in Durham and is currently completing work on a Ph.D. in library science at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois.

RalphJohnsonRalph Johnson was named senior vice president for administration at Xavier University in New Orleans. He was vice president for business and finance at Alabama A&M University. He previously held financial posts at Dillard University in New Orleans and Norfolk State University in Virginia.

Johnson is a certified public accountant. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, and an MBA from Tulane University in New Orleans.

erwin-tureaTurea Erwin, director of the Women’s Resource Center at Washington State University, was named to the national diversity task force of the American Association of University Women.

Erwin has led the Women’s Resource Center for nearly six years. She holds a master of public administration degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
