Two African Americans Named to Dean Positions at Grambling State University

Grambling State University in Louisiana has announced the appointments of two African Americans to dean positions.

guydenJanet A. Guyden is the new dean of professional and graduate studies. She has been on the faculty at the university since 2005. Previously she was dean of admission and interim dean of the College of Education at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.

Dr. Guyden is graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree from Worcester State University in Massachusetts and a doctorate in educational leadership from Georgia State University in Atlanta.

Dr King David Godwin2King David Godwin was named interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the university. Dr. Godwin has been on the Grambling State University faculty since 2007 and has been serving as the chair of the department of visual and performing arts.

Dr. Godwin is a graduate of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg. He holds a master’s degree from Bowie State University and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction in theater education from Virginia Tech.
