Morgan State University to Open a New Journalism School

Morgan State University in Baltimore has announced that it has received approval to open the School of Global Journalism and Communication. The school, which will be the ninth on the Morgan State campus, will officially open its doors on July 1.

dewayne-bio-picDeWayne Wickham, a columnist for USA Today, will be the leader of the new school. He stated, “’I am very excited about the opportunity Morgan has given me to build a world-class mass communication program. Our students will get cutting edge training in the use of new technologies to gather and disseminate news and information – and will learn how to do this on the global stage that journalists and strategic communicators must navigate.”

Professor Wickham has been serving as Distinguished Professor of Journalism and chair of communications studies at Morgan State. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park and holds a master of public administration degree from the University of Baltimore.
