Entering Class at Colgate University To Be the Most Diverse in School History

ColgateColgate University, the highly rated liberal arts college in Hamilton, New York, reports that the class entering this fall will be the most diverse in the school’s history. The college states that 28.7 percent of incoming students identify themselves as multicultural and 28.1 percent say they are non-White. Eight percent of the incoming class self-identifies as Black. This is also a record for Black students in the incoming class.

Karen Giannino, senior associate dean of admission at Colgate, stated, “We must offer all of our students the opportunity to live and work with people who come from different backgrounds. There’s no substitute for the exchange of ideas that happens face to face.”
