Alabama_AMAlabama A&M University in Huntsville has entered into a “reverse transfer credit agreement” with J.F. Drake State Technical College. Under the agreement students who took some courses at J.F. Drake State Technical College, but did not earn a degree, and who are now enrolled in Alabama A&M University, can use their credits at Alabama A&M to count toward completion of their associate’s degree at J.F. Drake. To be eligible for the program, students must have taken at least 12 credit hours at J.F. Drake and have at least three credit hours at Alabama A&M.

The aim of the program is to foster degree attainment. Many students who transfer from J.F. Drake to Alabama A&M end up not earning a degree from either institutions. The hope is that the reverse credit agreement will give current Alabama A&M students a psychological boost by earning an associate’s degree that will encourage them to continue on the earn a bachelor’s degree.
