Three African Americans Named to Vice President Positions

merchantDebra S. Merchant was promoted to vice president for student affairs and services at the University of Cincinnati. She has been on the staff at the university for 15 years and was serving as interim vice president since January. Previously she was associate vice president of student services.

Merchant is a graduate of Morehead State University in Kentucky and the holds a master’s degree and a law degree from the University of Kentucky.

denzil_suiteDenzil J. Suite was appointed vice president for student life at the University of Washington. He has been serving as associate vice president of student affairs at the University of Southern California. He will take on his new role on July 29.

Dr. Suite has been at USC since 2003 and also held an appointment as associate professor of clinical education. From 2001 to 2003 he was dean of students at the University of California at Santa Cruz.

Dr. Suite is a graduate of Ohio State University. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Vermont and a doctorate in educational policy and organization from USC.

Michael C. Rogers was named interim vice president for university advancement at the University of the District of Columbia. Rogers is the owner and operator of Michael C. Rogers Consulting. From 2003 to 2009 he was executive vice president for corporate services for MedStar Health.

Rogers is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University and the Georgetown University Law Center. He also holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Michigan.
