Danita Brown Is a Finalist for Dean of Students at the University of Minnesota

danitabrownThe University of Minnesota has selected four candidates as finalists for the position of vice provost for student affairs and dean of students. All candidates will visit the Twin Cities campus next week to take part in interviews and public forums. The candidates have all been asked to give a presentation with the title, “A Vision of Excellence: Student Affairs in a Public Land Grant University.” One of the four finalists is an African American. Blacks make up 4 percent of the 35,000-member undergraduate student body at the Twin Cities campus.

Danita M. Brown is currently the dean of students at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She is a graduate of Kent State University in Ohio, where she majored in sociology. She holds a master’s degree in counseling from Loyola University of Chicago and a doctorate from Ohio University in Athens.

  1. Good luck, we need a lot of diversity in the academy. I make this
    statement because all students will benefit from seeing people of color in leadership roles as they prepare for their careers into today’s workforce again good luck and represent.
