Daryl Michael Scott Elected President of the Association for the Study of African American Life

scottDaryl Michael Scott, professor of history at Howard University, has been elected president of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. The organization was founded in 1915 by Carter G. Woodson.

Dr. Scott is the former chair of the history department at Howard University and is a past winner of the Jame A. Rawley Prize from the Organization of American Historians. He previously taught at the University of Florida and Columbia University. He is the author of Contempt and Pity: Social Policy and the Image of the Black Psyche, 1880-1996 (University of North Carolina Press, 1997).
