Shawn Long Honored by the National Communication Association

Long-ShawnShawn D. Long, chair of the department of communication studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, has been selected to receive the 2012 Outstanding Service Award from the Black Caucus of the National Communication Association. The award is given to a member of the National Communication Association for extraordinary works of service with an impact on the livelihood of African Americans in academia and in the national and international Black community.

Dr. Long holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Tennessee State University. He earned a Ph.D. in communication from the University of Kentucky. He is the author of Virtual Work and Human Interaction Research (IGI Global, 2012) and Communication, Relationships and Practices in Virtual Work (Information Science Reference, 2010).
