New Offerings at the Radio Station of Fayetteville State University

Fayetteville_State_University_sealWFSS-FM Radio is a nonprofit, public radio station licensed to the Fayetteville State University board of trustees. The station concentrates on providing news and jazz for listeners in 12 counties in North Carolina.

The station is branching out with new programs in 2013 including “Military Matters,” a show that shares stories about military personnel stationed at nearby Fort Bragg. “The 919 Beat” is a jazz education program that provides biographical and other information on jazz and blues artists. On Saturday nights, the station, now features “Caribbean Link,” a program that highlight all forms of music originating in Caribbean nations.

The radio station has also announced the establishment of its Play It Again outreach program. The station collects used musical instruments from listeners and others in the community, refurbishes them, and donates the instruments to local school band programs.
