James B. Ewers Retiring After a 40-Year Career in Higher Education

jamesewers2010James B. Ewers Jr., vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida, has announced his retirement. Dr. Ewers has been at Edward Waters College since 2009 but has had a 40-year career in higher education. Prior to joining EWC, Dr. Ewers served as the associate dean of student affairs and the director of community partnerships at Miami University Middletown in Middletown, Ohio.

Dr. Ewers earned a bachelor’s degree at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte. He attended the university on a tennis scholarship. Dr. Ewers holds a master’s degree from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and an educational doctorate from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
