Two Universities Team Up for Joint Celebration to Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Historically Black North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro is teaming up with the predominantly White University of North Carolina at Greensboro for a joint celebration commemorating the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. It is the first time the two universities in Greensboro have teamed up to honor the slain civil rights leader.

The joint celebration is being called “Empowerment Through Diversity: Sharing the Dream.” Comedian and political activist Dick Gregory will give the keynote address.

Gerald Spates, director of the multicultural student center at North Carolina A&T State University, said, “Bridging this gap between the two institutions creates a wonderful dynamic for both campus communities.”

Now that’s what I’m talking about. What a fabulous experience for a “great outcome learning” for those participating – I’m all for building bridges, not walls. Good idea.
