Two HBCUs Unveil New Websites

Jackson State University in Mississippi introduced a new logo at halftime of its recent football game by showing a video and giving away T-shirts with the new image. A prototype of the new website was shown but the new design will be phased in over the next several months. Merchandise with the new university logo will be available next semester.

The University of the District of Columbia has launched its redesigned website with a new emphasis on supporting the educational institution’s enrollment objectives. In short, the site is now focused as a recruiting tool. A statement released by the university read, “We realize that this is a significant change from past versions of the website, and we look forward to benefits that will come from focusing our site primarily on new and prospective students.”

Each degree program now has its own page targeting prospective students with features on the programs, faculty, and career opportunities for students in those majors.
