New Black Resource Center to Open at the University of California at San Diego

The University of California at San Diego has announced that it will establish a Black Resource Center on campus. The new center, which has been in the planning stages since 2009, is located above the General Store in the Old Student Center on the UCSD campus. The new facility will have a library and offer tutoring services for Black students and workshops for law, medical, and other graduate programs.

Grant White, co-chair of the Black Student Union, stated, “It’s a resource center for all Black students regardless of political affiliation or culturally Black identity.” The new center is expected to open in January.

Blacks make up only 1.9 percent of the undergraduate student body at the University of California at San Diego.
