Mortimer H. Neufville was named interim president of Coppin State University in Baltimore. He will take over for Reginald S. Avery who is stepping down as president on January 23. Dr. Neufville said he is not a candidate to lead the Coppin State University on a permanent basis.
From August 2011 to June 2012, Dr. Neufville served as interim president of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Over a 15-year career at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Dr. Neufville served in many administrative positions at the university, including vice president for academic affairs. He is the former executive vice president of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities.
Dr. Neufville is a graduate of Tuskegee University and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in animal science from the University of Florida.
