Luther S. Williams Earns Major Promotion at Tuskegee University

Luther S. Williams was promoted to executive vice president and provost at Tuskegee University in Alabama. For the past two years he has held the title of provost and vice president for academic affairs. He also has been serving as dean of the university’s graduate school and director of the Ph.D. program in integrative biosciences.

While maintaining his role as provost, Dr. Williams will now have administrative oversight over enrollment and retention programs, budget and fiscal affairs, the university’s physical plant, and development efforts.

Dr. Williams is a graduate of Miles College in Alabama. He earned a Ph.D. at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Before coming to Tuskegee, Dr. Williams was  a professor and assistant provost at Purdue, dean of the graduate school at Washington University in St. Louis, and vice president for academic affairs and dean of the system-wide graduate school of the University of Colorado.

  1. Congratulations Dr. Williams with what sounds like a well deserved honor. I am a parent of a young man interested in attending Tuskegee next year. As a result, I have been following events related to the university. Reading about your outstanding academic credentials and career helps validate my opinion of this historical institution which I would be honored to have my son attend.

    Congratulations again on this wonderful promotion. Tuskegee is only strengthened by your leadership.
