Hampton University Enters a Partnership With the Dental School at Penn

Historically Black Hampton University in Virginia has entered into a partnership agreement with the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. The new HU-UPenn Biodental Program will allow students to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology at Hampton University and a doctorate in dental surgery from Penn.

Students must gain admittance to the Hampton University pre-health program and complete all degree requirements in a satisfactory manner. After three years, they will enroll at the Penn Dental School. After completing their first year at Penn, they will receive a bachelor’s degree in biology from Hampton University. They will then continue their education at Penn leading to a doctorate.

Michael Druitt, assistant professor and coordinator of the pre-health program at Hampton University, stated, “The partnership echoes the quality of students at Hampton as well as our nationally recognized pre-health program. We are excited about Hampton students having an early admittance into a competitive dental program.”
