Small Business Incubator Opens at Bowie State University

The nonprofit Business Innovation Center at Bowie State University in Maryland has opened with four resident businesses. The center was created as a partnership between the city and the university. The stated aim of the business incubator is to nurture entrepreneurial companies by providing business support services and facilities that help companies survive and grow during their start-up period.  The center’s goal is to create financially viable and freestanding companies that have the potential to strengthen local economies, create jobs, and revitalize neighborhoods.

The Bowie Business Innovation Center offers affordable office space, equipment, and receptionist services. And the businesses receive help from Bowie State faculty with mentoring, press relations, market research, and business plan support. University students can participate in internships with the companies.

    Good Evening,

I would like to learn more about the Incubator program. A little bit of my background, I recently finished serving with the military and have opened my construction and landscaping business with a partner. We opened back in October and are currently looking for ways to expand our business while also giving back to the community. A colleague of mine that told me about your Incubator program and this would be a very great opportunity to do so. Thank you for your assistance.
