Ole Miss Shares Its Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the University’s Racial Integration

The University of Mississippi has produced a video showing events held on campus earlier this month commemorating the 50th anniversary of racial integration at Ole Miss. It was on October 1, 1962 that James Meredith became the first African American student at the university.

  1. Yes, let us recognize and give all praise to those who have sacrificed so much to open some of the doors so adamantly closed against African Americans for so long. Fifty years ? Preceded by how many of oppression? And followed by how many years of continuing oppression. World, look and see what we at the University of Mississipi have done! When you use your considerable resources, academic and otherwise, toward actively dismantling systemic and structural racism, not only in Mississippi, but throughout the country, then let eyes be on Mississippi.
