Elsie Scott Is the Founding Director of the Ronald Walters Center at Howard University

Elsie L. Scott was named the founding director of the Ronald W. Walters Center at Howard University. The new center will focus on leadership development and public policy research, particularly on the role of African Americans in national and foreign policy and their impact on national elections. The center was established last year to honor Ronald Walters, who served on the Howard faculty for 25 years. He died in 2010.

From 2006 to earlier this year, Dr. Scott was president and CEO of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. She is the former executive director of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.

Dr. Scott is a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Iowa and a doctorate from Atlanta University.
