Center for Diversity and Inclusion Opens at American University

American University in Washington, D.C. has announced the establishment of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion. The new center was created by merging the GLBTA Resource Center, Multicultural Affairs, and the Women’s Resource Center under one umbrella.

Tiffany Speaks is the senior director of the newly created center. Speaks joined the American University staff in 2007 and also serves as an adjunct professor in the School of Education, Teaching, and Health and the School of Public Affairs.

Speaks is a graduate of Duke University and holds master’s degrees from Stanford University and Columbia University. She has spent at least one month living on all six inhabited continents and recently traveled to Antarctica.
