University of Maryland Eastern Shore Wins Circle of Excellence Fundraising Award

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education recently named 65 four-year colleges and universities as winners of its Circle of Excellence Educational Fundraising Awards. The recognition is given to colleges and universities that have shown significant improvement in their fundraising operations.

The only historically Black college or university to be honored among this year’s recipients is the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The university was honored for surpassing by $1 million its announced goal of $14 million in a recent capital campaign project.

“The Circle of Excellence Awards are the Oscars of higher education fundraising,” according to Gains Hawkins, vice president for institutional advancement at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. “The award is a tribute to the hard, smart work by the institutional advancement staff and the commitment to philanthropy by the campus community.”
