Saint Paul’s College Suspends Classes for the Fall Semester

Saint Paul’s College, the historically Black educational institution in Lawrenceville, Virginia, was informed in June that it will lose its accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The college was founded in 1888 and is affiliated with the Episcopal Church. The college enrolled about 400 students last year. The college is appealing the decision and the appeal is expected to heard next week. Under the rules of appeal, the college retains accreditation until the process is completed.

But with the loss of accreditation looming, Saint Paul’s College has decided to suspend classes for the fall semester. The college will keep open its child care center and will continue to offer evening classes in its adult continuing education program. But all other operations of the college have been suspended.
