In Memoriam: Freddye T. Davy, 1933-2012

Freddye T. Davy, director of the Honors College at Hampton University, died earlier this month after battling leukemia. She was 79 years old.

Dr. Davy became director of the Honors College in 1994. This spring Hampton University renamed the Honors College after Dr. Davy.

Dr. Davy earned a bachelor’s degree in English composition and speech from Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1953. She held a master’s degree in American studies from the University of Maryland, College Park and an educational doctorate from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
