African American Musician Is the 200,000th Graduate of the University of Central Florida

Wendell Raulerson III was designated as the 200,000th alumnus of the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando. More than 231,000 degrees have been awarded by the university but because some people have more than one degree, Robinson was named as the 200,000th person to receive a degree from the university since its founding in 1963.

Raulerson earned an associate’s degree at Daytona State College and enrolled at UCF in 2009. This week he received a bachelor’s degree in music and is one of the first students to graduate in the university’s jazz studies program.

Raulerson began to play the drums at the age of 13 at a church where his father was the pastor. At UCF he performed with the Gospel and Cultural Choir, the Black Steel drum band and RBZ rap group.

He plans a career in music ministry.
