Two African American Scholars Named to Lead National Organizations

Benjamin D. Reese Jr. was elected president of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education. He is the vice president in the Office for Institutional Equity at Duke University.

Dr. Reese holds a master’s degree from the City University of New York and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University.

Jennifer Keane-Dawes, dean of the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, was elected president of the Council of Historically Black Graduate Schools. She will serve a three-year term.

Dean Keane-Dawes hold a bachelor’s degree in arts and general studies from the University of the West Indies, a master’s degree in communication arts and a doctorate in intercultural communication from Howard University.
