New Duties for Four Black Scholars

David Marshall was named vice president for academic affairs at Olive-Harvey College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago. Previously, he was vice president for academic affairs at American Sentinel University.

Dr. Marshall is a graduate of Morgan State University in Baltimore. He holds a master’s degree in journalism and a Ph.D. in mass media and communication from Temple University in Philadelphia.

Gilbert L. Rochon, president of Tuskegee University in Alabama, was elected chair of the Council of 1890 Universities. He will begin a three-year term as president of the organization on November 1. The organization is an affiliation of historically Black colleges and universities that were designated land-grant institutions by the Second Morrill Act, which was passed by Congress in 1890.

Dr. Rochon is a native of New Orleans and graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana. He holds a master of public health degree from the Yale School of Medicine and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Nicole Shelton, professor of psychology at Princeton University, was named master of Butler College, one of the six residential colleges on the Princeton campus. She will begin a four-year term on July 1.

Dr. Shelton joined the Princeton faculty in 2000. She is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Virginia.

Gedeon M. Mudacumura, associate professor of public administration at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, was elected chair of the Section on International and Comparative Administration of the American Society for Public Administration.

Dr. Mudacumura is co-editor of textbook Sustainable Development Policy and Administration (CRC Press).
