New Scholarship Program for Minority Pre-Med Students at Christopher Newport University

Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia, has established a new scholarship program for minorities and low-income students who will pursue a pre-med curriculum. In order to qualify for the new scholarships, students must be from a rural or medically underserved area, or be a member of an underrepresented group, or demonstrate financial need. Students applying for the scholarships must have a high school grade point average of 3.5 or above and have scored at least 1100 on the reading and mathematics sections of the SAT college entrance examination.

Christopher Newport University has nearly 5,000 undergraduate students. Eight percent of the undergraduate student body is Black.
