M. Roy Wilson Named to a Key Post at the National Institutes of Health

M. Roy Wilson was named deputy director for strategic scientific planning and program coordination at the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, a division of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Wilson has a solid resume in medicine and the academic world. Most recently, he was chair of the board of trustees of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles and served as acting president in 2010 and 2011.

Previously, Dr. Wilson was chancellor of the University of Colorado at Denver, president of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo and dean of the Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska.

Dr. Wilson is a graduate of Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. He earned his M.D. at Harvard Medical School and also holds a master’s degree in epidemiology from the University of California at Los Angeles.
