Tulane Professor Lands a TV Gig

Melissa Harris-Perry, professor of political science at Tulane University in New Orleans, will be hosting her own show on weekend mornings from 10 a.m. to noon on the MSNBC cable network. She has been a commentator on several MSNBC shows and has served as a guest host. Her new show will begin on February 4.

Before joining the faculty at Tulane, Dr. Harris-Perry was on the political science and African-American studies faculty at Princeton University. Her most recent book, Sister Citizen: Shame, Stereotypes, and Black Women in America, was recently released by Yale University Press.

Dr. Harris-Perry is a graduate of Wake Forest University. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from Duke University.

  1. Congrats to sister Harris-Perry! I’ve been a fan of hers since her first appearance on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show while she was at Princeton! I am an MSNBC News junkie!
    I must say this is possibly all due to the fact that we have a president of color. When many of us complain that there are no jobs available as a result of his policies, we must flip the script and look at what we cannot see. Just saying’!

In Memoriam: O. Jerome Green, 1954-2024

President of historically Black Shorter College O. Jerome Green passed way unexpectedly on April 8. Since he became president in 2012, the college has experienced record-breaking enrollment and graduation rates, created new academic programs, and established the STEM Center for Academic Excellence.
