Multimedia Exhibit Examines the Journeys of African American Women in Higher Education

Roxana Walker-Canton, an assistant professor of visual and performing arts at Fairfield University in Connecticut, has produced a new multimedia exhibit that examines case studies of Black women in higher education. The exhibit includes videos, photography, cultural artifacts, and audio interviews and will be shown for two weeks in Loyola Hall on the Fairfield University campus.

The project is an offshoot of Professor Walker-Canton’s full length documentary film on Black women in higher education, scheduled to be released this spring.

Walker-Canton received a bachelor’s degree in French and Spanish from Spelman College. She hold a dual M.A./M.F.A. in black studies/creative writing from Ohio State University and an M.F.A in film and media arts from Temple University. Before coming to Fairfield University, she taught film and video at Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia Southern University, and Connecticut College.
