University of Massachusetts Debuts New Website on Diversity

The University of Massachusetts at Amherst recently launched its Diversity Matters website. The new website offers a comprehensive list of resources on matters of diversity for students, faculty, and the community. There is information on scholarships, student groups, mentoring programs, internships, and academic programs and courses in ethnic studies and diversity.

According to the university, the site “was developed to evolve and change, reflective of the community’s own constant need to remain vigilant on matters of diversity and equality.”

The new online initiative was developed by Debora Ferreira, the executive director for equal opportunity and diversity at the university. She states, “UMass Amherst is a diverse and multicultural community that values, supports and is accepting of differences; a community that continually strives to be equitable, fair and inclusive. This website will showcase best practices for diversity programs that work on our campus and in the local area. A key goal for this website is to enhance communication and collaboration in the area of diversity, both across campus and in the surrounding communities.”
