Notable Appointments of African Americans to Positions in Higher Education

Keri D. Young was named director of career services at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She was assistant director of recruitment operations in the graduate career service center at the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University.

Young holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Robert Pompey, vice chancellor for business and finance at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, will take on additional interim duties as director of the division of university advancement. He joined the administration at North Carolina A&T in 2007. Previously, he was associate controller at Wake Forest University.

Pompey is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University and holds an MBA from Wake Forest University.

Edward Summers is the new chief of staff for the president of Union College in Schenectady, New York. He was assistant to the president at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Summers holds a bachelor’s degree and a master of public administration degree from Marist College. He is currently completing doctoral work in urban and public policy at New School University.
