West Virginia University in Morgantown reports that total enrollments at the university are up 1.1 percent this year to 29,617. But Black student enrollments are up 7.7 percent from a year ago.
There are currently 1,079 Black students on campus, up from 1,002 a year ago.
Blacks make up 3.6 percent of total enrollments at the flagship campus. Census figures for 2010 show that Blacks are 3.4 percent of the total population in West Virginia.
