Southern University Switching to Four-Day Class Schedule

For the spring center, Southern University in Baton Rouge will not hold any classes on Fridays. Chancellor Charles Llorens stated that employees will continue to work five says a week but classes will be held only on Mondays through Thursdays in an effort to save costs on utilities.

Under the plan, classes that met for 50 minutes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday will now meet on Monday and Wednesday only for one hour and 20 minutes each day.

Lingering Mistrust From Tuskegee Syphilis Study Connected to COVID-19 Vaccine Reluctance

African Americans who lived within 750 miles of Tuskegee, Alabama, were more reluctant to receive the COVID-19 vaccine than their White neighbors, as well as Black Americans from other United States regions. The authors attribute this finding to lingering mistrust of public health services as a result of the Tuskegee Syphilis Study which ran from the 1930s to 1972.
