Marie Chisholm-Burns, a professor and chair of the department of pharmacy practice and science at the University of Arizona, received the Pharmacy Practice Research Award from the American Society of Health Science Pharmacists. Dr. Chisholm-Burns was recently appointed dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She will take office this January.

Professor Chisholm-Burns holds bachelor’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Georgia. She earned a master of public health degree at Emory University.

The Center for Civic Engagement on the campus of Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida, was recently renamed to honor Michael and Libby Johnson, longtime university supporters. Michael Johnson is a trustee emeritus and Libby Johnson is the daughter of Richard V. Moore who was president of Bethune-Cookman from 1947 to 1975. The Johnsons provided funding for the Moore Center on campus which houses the university’s environmental science program and also established the Johnson Scholars Endowed Scholarship Fund.

M. Christopher Brown, president of Alcorn State University in Mississippi, received the 2011 Excellence in Education Award from the Pennsylvania State University College of Education Alumni Society.

President Brown is a graduate of South Carolina State University. He earned a master’s degree from the University of Kentucky and an educational doctorate at Penn State.

Quenon Endowed Chair, and vice provost for graduate education at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
