Honors and Awards

• Carole Boston Weatherford, professor of English at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina, will receive the North Carolina Award from Governor Beverly Purdue at ceremonies next month. The award is the highest civilian honor bestowed by the state of North Carolina.

An award-winning poet and author, Professor Weatherford holds master’s degrees from the University of Baltimore and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

• Timika Hoffman-Zoller, a project assistant for the University of Chicago Police Department, received the National Citizen Corps Achievement Award from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. She was honored for her work to promote child safety in the home.
