Resignation
• Gilbert Holmes, dean of the University of Baltimore School of Law, announced that he will step down from the position at the end of the 2006-07 academic year. Dean Holmes, who in 2001 became the first African American to head the law school, will take a one-year sabbatical and then return to the law school to teach.
Dean Holmes is a graduate of Bucknell University and earned his law degree at New York University.
