Miles College Plans to Become a University

Miles College, the historically black educational institution located just outside the city limits of Birmingham, Alabama, has announced plans to offer graduate-level courses and become a university. The college plans to offer master’s degree programs in education and social work.

Miles College was founded in 1898 by members of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. There are about 1,800 students on campus, almost all of whom are black.
