Floyd Flake, President of Wilberforce University, to Step Down in June

Floyd H. Flake, the eighteenth president of Wilberforce University, the historically black educational institution in Ohio, announced that he will step down effective June 30. Flake, who served as a congressman from New York, was named president of Wilberforce in 2002. While serving as president of the university, Flake remained pastor of The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York. The Reverend Flake would commute to Ohio each week from his home in New York. In 2007 the faculty at Wilberforce voted no-confidence in Flake, saying that he did not spend enough time on campus.
